Medical professionals and patients share a sweet-bitter relationship. At any point in their lives, 8% - 38% of health workers experience physical abuse. On the other hand, several doctors have also been accused of being motivated by greed and pursuing unethical methods over time through the commercialization of medical treatment.
Through this research, we aim to understand the legal framework to balance the interest of patients and doctors; and to facilitate inclusivity in health law policymaking.

Interpretation of Criminal Law and its History in India

Note: This study was conducted with our partner organisation in the Research Summer School of 2020, Niti Manthan.

The study was carried out in order to trace the origin of the Common law-driven Criminal Justice System in India and the related developments and reforms. The researchers have carried out an in-depth analysis to study the lacunae present in the substantive and procedural parts of criminal law and come up with suggestions that can be helpful for society. The research has also been carried out to tackle the issue of the burden of pendency of cases in the courts in India.
We have considered various aspects of the Criminal Justice System, beginning from the origin of the drafting of penal laws to the most recent amendments in the Indian Penal Code, 1860 and the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 and their impact. Further, the study enlists various shortcomings that came out after a thorough reading of certain sections of the IPC and the CrPC.

In the wake of the Covid pandemic, the jurisprudence system was marshalled for a much-needed innovation of holding court virtually. This helped facilitate justice dispensation even when social distancing was mandatory and necessary. This contrasted with the physical hearings, where the lawyers, judges, and clients were all present in the court at the time of the hearing. This study explores the behavioural changes observed during this sudden shift from Physical Courts to Virtual Courts. The present study is a psychological & legal analysis of the E-Courts Policy that brought digitalization to the Indian Court System.

Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) plays an important role in the economic development of a country. FDI acts as a medium to acquire advanced technology and mobilize foreign exchange resources. COVID-19 Pandemic, although a healthcare pandemic, quickly turned into a global economic pandemic. Its economic costs are likely to be massive across the world and in India as well.
On one end, we see the forex reserves in India are at an all-time high; on another, the perpetual lockdowns are slowing the local economy. This dichotomy seems to be a puzzle for students of economics. Through this research, conducted in 2020, the student researchers have analysed the Foreign Direct Investment Policies in India in the context of the contemporary Covid-19 pandemic situation.

With the turn of the 20th century, gambling was highly restricted by the Indian government. People would lose all sense of logic and give in to the temptation to bet beyond their capacity for greater rewards. So, the Indian government decided to take away the right to gamble. But did that stop Indians from being entertained by this age-old pastime? With the advent of the Internet and Technology, an increasing number of people have moved online to satisfy their gambling habits. According to a report, about 40% of Internet users in India have admitted to spending some time on online gambling for fun and not with the intention of making money. This study focuses on the evolution of regulations on Online Gambling.

With urbanization comes a responsibility upon the state for city planning. The Union is coming up with the concept of “smart cities”. As the national capital, the flow of urban infra policies in Delhi is expected to be of prime standards and a model to replicate. But does the city stands up to the expectations?

We conducted an empirical study in the North Delhi Municipal Corporation area of New Delhi to analyze the implementation of a newly enacted policy for street vendors.

It was found that not only a lawyer’s specific nature of work is a cause for mental health issues, but also the environment of the organisation they work in, their colleagues, and how they are treated there.

The study seeks to penetrate deep into the Indian perspective of water-related issues and climate change and how the stakeholders and the front liners are getting affected due to it. The Assam floods of 2022 are real-life examples of why this study is necessary. By introducing concepts such as human-induced disasters, sustainable development, national policies,
mitigation and adaptation, this study tries to address all the national issues. The international perspective of human rights is also discussed alongside the national perspective.

The key highlight of this study is the region-wise study of India. Northern India, North East India, Eastern India, Western India, Bihar, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra are discussed explicitly.

Menstrual Rights and Equity: Gender Studies

In general, it is argued that menstruation is a biological process, a stigmatised sociocultural event, and a masked aspect of the individual human experience. Menstrual experiences do, however, appear to have existentialist roots as well. As menstruation subjects, women and other marginalised genders keep their menstrual bodies inside the confines of customs and etiquette guidelines.

The present study analyses the concept of Menstrual Rights and Equity from the lens of Gender and its role in the world.

Driving causes greenhouse gas emissions and contributes to local air pollution. With gasoline-powered vehicles, fuel is combusted in the vehicle, and emissions come from the tailpipe. For electric vehicles, fuel use happens at the power plant. Electric vehicles may be dirtier or cleaner per mile of use, depending on how the electricity is generated. The study analyses recent policy initiatives and subsidies introduced by the state government to replace conventional vehicles.
