About Ylcube Foundation

The Young Leaders for Legal Literacy Foundation (YLCube Foundation) is a not-for-profit organisation that engages in socio-legal research and percolates legal literacy and legal aid across states and union territories in India. It is an initiative to motivate and inspire young students and guide them to traverse the righteous path throughout their personal and professional lives. By having direct interactions, an exchange of views with experienced legal minds and participation in research, conceptualizing, and correspondingly reporting.

The foundation has produced over 30+ research reports in the allied areas of law, conducted legal literacy programs in over 100 districts across India, and has worked with 5000+ students of law and allied areas. YLCube foundation has been recognised by The International Criminal Court Hague, United Nations Harmony with Nature Programme, Received a grant for volunteer work from the International Bridges for Justice, Switzerland, and has Collaborated with various Public Institutions and Universities pan India and abroad, including the University of Oxford’s Oxford Pro Bono Publico and Clinton Global Initiative University.

The think tank branch of YL cube foundation currently functions in the areas of Research, Legal blogs, Internships, E-classes, and Research Centers on Medical and Health Law, Environmental Law, International Criminal Law and psycho-legal Studies; all pro-bono.

About the Internship:

After conducting successful Summer Schools for many years, the YLcube Foundation has hosted students from more than 100 law schools across India, where they undertook over 50 research projects in the fields of the intersection of law and other facets of society including politics, sociology, policy, psychology, and philosophy. We bring back the opportunity to the students in the summer of 2025.

Students will have a unique opportunity to apply their legal acumen, expertise, and experience through this program. Familiarity with the practicalities and complexities of law would broaden students' knowledge and benefit them in the long run from a professional standpoint.

Themes of projects being undertaken

  1. EPSA (Environmental Policy and Ethics): A Bharatiya model of ESG. 
  2. International Relations: Rethinking Governance and democracy under the Southern lens. 
  3. International Relations: Indo-Africa dialogue: Exploring partnerships in the Global South. 
  4. Criminal Law: Exploring the relationship between criminality and the colonial past.
  5. IPR Law: Legal and Ethical Implications NFT's for Digital Art.

Vacancies

2 interns per research project

Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Preferably a regular student. A young professional of law or allied fields may also apply.
  2. Articulate in writing, and familiar with Legal Citations

Time Period: Two Months. Flexible working hours.

Mode of Work: Work from Home- Virtual Internship

Last Date of Application: 25th June, 2025

Perks: Interns shall be provided with Internship certificates, and special workshops on legal writing will also be conducted for the authors during the period of internship. Please note that all researchers and research leads work pro bono at the summer school.

Selection Criteria

Selection for the fellowship will be based on two or more rounds of scrutiny - first, the application will be shortlisted based on CVs and writing samples, followed by the interview of short-listed candidates (Each round is an elimination round).
